Chronic Pain Study

If you are a new patient with chronic pain, (lasting more than 3 months and rated pain at a 5 or greater than 5 on a pain scale of 1-10), and interested in participating in a pilot research study looking into acupuncture’s effect on interoceptive awareness in patients suffering from chronic pain, we are now enrolling.

This is a “real-world,” pragmatic, single-arm design study utilizing 2 questionnaires and check ins at baseline appointment, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, and 2 year follow up. Each treatment is completely individualized and patients remain anonymous, with no obligation to continue treatment or follow up. It is completely voluntary.

Research is being conducted by Lisa Taylor-Swanson, PhD, MAcOM, LAc, Principal Investigator, Nick Lowe, MSc MBAcC, Co-Investigator, and Spod Dutton, Lic Ac, MBAcC, Co-Investigator with the College of Nursing at the University of Utah.

Exclusion criteria includes pain due to, or with, cancer, MS, Dementia, fibromyalgia, eating disorders, autism, schizophrenia, down’s syndrome, Parkinson’s or in pregnant patients.
